Verse 15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you. This is the last verse. Before that it talks about the teacher teaching men to be worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. They have those qualities and then they're able to teach the men and the women and it can be beneficial to everyone. And they don't have that, it's a disaster and quite confusing.

Verse 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. Before this verse, Paul writes about what elders are to be. In contrast this is what they aren't to look like. They keep doing evil. Their fruit is bad. We need to walk the walk, not just talk. Verse 7 "You place defiled food on my altar. But you ask, 'How have we defiled you?' You guys, Jesus is the perfect sacrifice today. We can't defile it anymore by not sharing the full Good News: Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.

Verse 3-4 Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs- he wants to please his commanding officer. We need to protect our pastors and not ask them to get involved in worldly nonsense. They need to stay pure and focused on the Word, so we can get taught. Let the others take care of those things if it must happen.

Verse 16 The Lord their God will save them on that day as the flock of his people. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown. The nation of Israel will believe in Jesus one day. There is no sound judgment; the leaders do not have godly discernment.
