Verse 27 As they were going down to edge of the town, Samuel said to Saul, "Tell the servant to go on ahead of us"- and the servant did so- "but you stay here awhile, so that I may give you a message from God."
I am trying to figure out why I wrote the note "Read until you bleed" for 1 Samuel either chapter 9 or 10.
It is most likely when Saul went looking for the donkeys and was going to give up and his servant said to go see the prophet instead. Today we don't stop depending on God's Word/Jesus for help. We keep reading the Bible for instruction for life. Read until we bleed/get something out of it. Thankfully since I decided I was going to do that, God always talks to me. In my earlier years reading alone, I was like- what does this mean (in the Old Testament)????? That's why it's nice these days that we have pastors that have their Bible studies up online and commentaries. I know not everyone knows everything, but we can learn a little from each other. The most important thing is that we are saved. If they don't talk about the Good News then don't follow them. If they don't read verse by verse, don't bother. Let's start off learning that we need to read thru the Bible and obey. Even if we don't understand it all at first, keep going! It's like learning the ABC's.
