Verse 9 So he said, "Bring me the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings." And Saul offered up the burnt offering.
This reminds me of giving the invitation without giving the announcement or it reminds me of not being asked to be engaged and given a ring and someone just wiggling in and marrying you for the wrong reasons. We aren't the High Priest, Jesus is and He makes up the rules on His Word. It is up to us to study and see what the formula is. He has steps. Now we won't get to heaven by following it, but we will be blessed and protected.
Here we have Saul going in the order of the offerings back then, but it was never his job to do that. It was the job of Samuel. He knew better and disobeyed. He took matters into his own hands. This is representing the people, they wanted a king like the world and didn't want God as king anymore, alone. Saul already shows his real heart by lying and making up his own rules when facing difficulties.
I don't know much, but I know in order to accept Jesus, we need to hear the Good News that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Do you accept Him as your Savior and Lord? This is a big decision that will affect you for all eternity. Yes or no?
